• The Affordable Care Act's Employer Mandate – 2015 Update
   

The Affordable Care Act radically restructures heath care financing in the U.S. Those affected include health care providers, health insurance carriers, individuals and employers, among others. Where employers are concerned, the ACA imposes pay-or-play requirements that are modeled loosely on the now repealed, 2006 Massachusetts health care reform rules. As with the Massachusetts rules, industries with large cohorts of variable and contingent workers—i.e., the staffing industry first and foremost—face the biggest compliance challenges. This program will examine the application of the ACA rules as they affect staffing firms. Additionally, particular attention will be paid to changes in the paid sick leave laws and how these updates further complicate the compliance process.
