From October 2018 to March 2019, a collaboration between researchers from the University of Rhode Island, University of Boston, and Portland State University performed a study to understand what the greatest challenges for women leading decisions and management of water and environmental issues. More than 800 professional and scientists currently working in the water sector (drinking water, wastewater, stormwater for residential, industrial and commercial) have answered the survey. Mintz is proud to sponsor and host NEWIN's Diversity in the Water Sector: Toward Inclusive Culture, where representatives from the universities will present for the first time the results of this survey and proposed recommendation for issues they identified.
 

This event, Diversity in the Water Sector: Toward Inclusive Culture, will include:

  • A panel discussion focused on the recruitment, retention and promotion of women in the water sector
  • The debut presentation of the results of an exploratory survey regarding the perception of women in the water sector, the challenges to pursuing a career in the sector and proposed recommendations for the issues identified
  • Table expositions from students, companies, and organizations
