Join us at Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica on October 10 for an engaging discussion on Women on Boards: Pathway to Board Membership.

Moderated by Mintz Member Kathryn F. Edgerton, our panelists will share their personal journeys and experiences of becoming board members and demystify the process for aspiring board members. Our expert panelists include:

•    Ako Shimada, Vice-President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary of Ushio America, Inc. and Independent Outside Director of Fujitec Co., Ltd.
•    Michelle Johnson, Senior Partner at WittKieffer, a global executive search firm and Board Member of CentraCare
•    Jen Rubin, Mintz Member, Co-chair of the Mintz ESG Practice Group, Board Member and Governance Chair of the USS Midway Museum, and Co-Chair of the San Diego 50/50 Women on Boards Leadership Committee

Discover the power of diversity on corporate boards! While research underscores the role of board diversity in boosting profitability and productivity, there's a persistent underrepresentation of women, especially Black women and women of color, on corporate boards. Despite legislative efforts to bridge the gender gap, progress has been slow. At this event, our panelists will delve into key topics, including finding board opportunities, the essentials of board service, questions to ask when considering a board position, identifying the right board fit, effective self-promotion, and the role of male allies in advancing women to leadership roles.

You will not want to miss what is sure to be an enlightening discussion and a chance to mingle with our guest speakers and other professionals over cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

We look forward to seeing you at this exciting event!
