Time: 2:00PM - 2:45PM (EST)

Location: Webinar

Mintz, NetScout Systems, Inc., and the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) will host a 45-minute webinar examining a first-of-its-kind California ruling for defendant NetScout Systems, Inc. that narrows the scope of the California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA). This recent landmark decision arrives amid a surge of litigation targeting companies’ use of cookies, pixels, SDKs, web beacons, and similar website technologies, offering persuasive authority and a much-needed framework for challenging these claims.

Mintz Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice Co-chair Scott Lashway, the lead defense counsel on this matter, and NetScout Senior Vice President and General Counsel Jeff Levinson will discuss the litigation strategy behind the case and how the court’s statutory and legislative analysis shaped the outcome.

Attendees — particularly CLOs, GCs, and in-house legal and compliance teams — will gain practical insights into the decision’s broader impact, including how it may influence risk exposure, defense strategies, and data collection practices for organizations operating websites accessible in California.
