Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Names Mintz's Alec Zadek Among Ten Outstanding Young Leaders for 2018

Mintz is pleased to announce that Alec Zadek, a Member in the firm’s Boston office, has been selected by the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce among the 2018 Ten Outstanding Young Leaders (TOYL) honorees.

The TOYL Awards are presented by City Awake, a program of the Chamber aimed at connecting, engaging, and celebrating next generation leaders. The awards celebrate the contributions of current and emerging young Greater Boston leaders who have demonstrated professional, personal and civic commitment to improving the quality of life within our region.

“Our 2018 Ten Outstanding Young Leaders are a wonderful representation of our diverse and collaborative business community,” said Chamber president & CEO, James E. Rooney. “These remarkable individuals are leaving their mark on Greater Boston through their powerful contributions both in and out of the office.”

Alec is a Member in the firm’s Litigation Section. He has significant experience advising directors, officers, members, managers, and shareholders of closely-held businesses regarding their fiduciary duties, corporate governance, and indemnification rights and responsibilities. Alec also has experience representing primary and excess insurers with respect to coverage disputes arising under directors and officers, representations and warranties, professional liability, and general liability policies.

“Alec is exceptionally smart, creative, indefatigable, and loyal, and his talents are widely respected not only throughout the firm, but, more importantly, outside of the firm as well,” said Scott Ford, Member and Chair of Mintz’s Litigation practice.

Alec is well-known in the Boston-area for his pro bono work, which focuses primarily on representing survivors of sex trafficking and domestic violence and raising awareness of legal issues impacting survivors of human trafficking. He is the founder and co-chair of the Boston Bar Association’s committee on human trafficking. His work on behalf of sex trafficking survivors includes assisting survivors to vacate prostitution-related convictions, dismissing and sealing prostitution-related charges, obtaining asylum and lawful permanent resident status, and cooperating with law enforcement. Most recently, Alec co-authored legislation to help streamline the procedure for Massachusetts sex trafficking survivors to obtain post-conviction relief, which went into effect in July 2018.
