Mintz Attorney Dionne Lomax to Present American Bar Association Webinar on Health Care Antitrust Fundamentals

Dionne Lomax, a Member of the Antitrust Section of Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., will present an American Bar Association Webinar (ABA) entitled, “Health Care Antitrust Fundamentals.” The webinar is taking place on Thursday, March 19.

Ms. Lomax and her co-speaker, Steve Vieux, an attorney with the Federal Trade Commission, Bureau of Competition, will explain the principles of health care antitrust fundamentals using examples of recent government initiatives and private antitrust actions. Ms. Lomax and Mr. Vieux will discuss price fixing and why it remains the top health care enforcement concern; why “integration” is a magic word in antitrust; and the law as written and as currently applied to healthcare mergers and acquisitions. The discussion will be moderated by Christi Braun, Deputy General Counsel for Health Affairs, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL.

Ms. Lomax’s antitrust and trade regulation practice includes counseling and representation in connection with merger and nonmerger related activities, litigation, and matters before the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). She has been involved in antitrust matters spanning a broad range of industries, but has particularly deep experience in the health care and energy sectors. In the health care industry, Ms. Lomax has represented large health systems, major medical associations, large multi-specialty physician groups, pharmaceutical companies, and medical device manufacturers in connection with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other commercial arrangements. She has counseled various clients in responding to antitrust investigations conducted by the DOJ, FTC, and various state antitrust agencies. Ms. Lomax previously served as a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division Health Care Task Force Section.
