Geoffrey G. Why, a Member of the Communications Section of Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., will moderate a panel discussion at the 2015 Competition and Innovation Policy Summit presented by Comptel. The conference will take place on Tuesday, February 24 at the Newseum in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Why’s panel is entitled, “View from the 8th Floor: The State of Wireline Communications Today.” Panelists will discuss the state of the wireline communications industry and explore the myriad issues facing the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Comptel's Competition and Innovation Policy Summit is a signature event showcasing decades of pro-competitive policies that have ushered in unprecedented growth and innovation in the technology economy. This Summit offers a special opportunity for communications and technology leaders to connect and will feature panels on hot topics, including Open Internet, mergers and an update of the Communications Act. Mr. Why has substantial experience in prominent policy and legislative issues affecting the cable, broadband, wireline, and wireless industries. Prior to joining Mintz he served as the Commissioner (2009 - 2014) and General Counsel (2007 - 2009) of the Massachusetts Department of Telecommunications and Cable (DTC). In his role as Commissioner, Mr. Why directed all administrative, legal, and policy priorities for the department.
