Mintz Attorney Tyrone P. Thomas to Present at American Association of State Colleges and Universities’ Millennium Leadership Initiative Institute

Tyrone P. Thomas, an attorney in the Employment, Labor & Benefits Section of Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., will present at the American Association of State Colleges and Universities’ (AASCU) Millennium Leadership Initiative (MLI) Institute. The conference will take place June 8-11 in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Thomas’ presentation is entitled, “Executive Contracts: Basics and Trends.”

The MLI is a leadership development program that provides individuals traditionally underrepresented in the highest ranks of colleges and universities with the opportunity to develop skills and build the professional network needed to advance to the presidency. The MLI Institute will feature four days of presentations and workshops led by university presidents and industry experts covering topics ranging from media relations to advancement and fundraising.

Mr. Thomas advises boards, presidents, and other senior executives of colleges and universities on terms for employment and consulting agreements. He frequently provides counsel regarding best practices for compensation, benefits, and post-employment covenants for executive contracts. Mr. Thomas has prepared numerous deferred compensation plans, performance incentive programs and separation agreements for health care systems, foundations, trade associations and academic institutions. In the course of his practice, he has advised on executive employment arrangements involving over 100 academic institutions.
