Mitch Frazer Receives Honorary Doctorate from Western University

Mitch Frazer, Managing Partner of Mintz's Toronto office, has received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Western University in recognition of his contributions to the legal profession, higher education, and philanthropy.

Mitch received the honorary degree during Western University’s fall convocation ceremony on October 21, 2026, returning to his alma mater, where he earned his law degree. He addressed graduating students at the ceremony before they received their degrees. Western’s honorary Doctor of Laws degree recognizes exceptional achievement and service to the university or broader community.

Mitch has combined legal leadership with a longstanding commitment to advancing higher education and supporting community institutions. In addition to leading Mintz's Toronto office, he has helped shape policy and thought leadership on aging issues as co-founder of the National Institute on Ageing and has advanced higher education through his service as Chancellor of Ontario Tech University and as a former adjunct professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. He has also served in leadership roles at several educational and nonprofit organizations, and his philanthropic and civic work has supported a range of educational and health-related initiatives across Ontario.
