Municipal Market Lobbyists Watching Shutdown, Paygo Waiver, FDTA
Retail and Consumer Products Co-chair Charles Samuels was quoted by The Bond Buyer in an article about several items public finance lobbyists are tracking in Congress in the coming months, including the government shutdown and its implications for the municipal bond market. Beyond the more immediate effects of the shutdown, many are watching whether there might be an attempt at a second reconciliation bill.
Chuck says, “After a major successful public and private effort to avoid new bond restrictions in the reconciliation bill, there is understandable concern about and close observation of the possibility of a second reconciliation bill. This legislation also could be an opportunity for making improvements such as advance refunding and bank deductibility.”
