Private Credit Is Under Fire — And Still Pushing for Your Retirement Account

Of Counsel Michelle Capezza was quoted in a Business Insider article examining the push to expand private credit and other alternative investments into 401(k) retirement plans. The article discusses these developments in light of new regulations proposed by the Department of Labor, as well as ongoing questions about liquidity, valuation, and market volatility within the private credit space.

Michelle notes that sponsor hesitation persists despite existing protections. She says, “Plan sponsors are already dealing with complexities around other considerations like adding lifetime distribution options. There are safe harbors for those options, yet they’re still reluctant to do that type of diligence and add those types of features.”
