Senator William “Mo” Cowan to Be Honored by Children’s Trust

U.S. Senator William “Mo” Cowan, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of ML Strategies, the government relations and strategic consulting affiliate of international law firm Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. , where the Senator is Of Counsel, is being recognized by the Children’s Trust for his dedication to serving the children of Massachusetts through his work as a community leader. Senator Cowan will be honored at the organization’s annual gala on Saturday, October 25 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

Senator Cowan is being recognized by the Children’s Trust for his work in the public and private sectors on several causes that benefit children and families. These include his service in the Administration of Governor Deval L. Patrick, his service in the United States Senate, and his service with and support for numerous organizations focused on community and family including the Greater Boston YMCA, Massachusetts General Hospital, the Chestnut Hill School, the Discovering Justice Foundation, Project STEP and the Roxbury Preparatory Charter School.

“Mo Cowan has shown a commitment to improving the lives of families by working to improve educational opportunities for children that allow them to grow to be successful. His work as a community leader and public servant helps build stronger families now and for the future,” said James E. Rooney, chair of the Children’s Trust Board of Directors and Executive Director of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority.

The Children’s Trust is Massachusetts’ leading family support organization.  It strengthens the Commonwealth by developing, evaluating, and promoting parenting education and coaching programs to improve the lives of children.

Senator Cowan returned to Mintz Levin in November 2013 following his tenure as interim U.S. Senator for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, a seat Governor Patrick appointed him to fill after it was vacated by Secretary of State John F. Kerry. He previously served as Governor Patrick’s Chief Legal Counsel and, later, Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor.  Prior to that, Senator Cowan was a Member in the Boston office of Mintz Levin where he represented a diverse array of commercial clients in business and regulatory matters.
