States Target AI That Tells Companies How Much to Pay Workers
Jennifer Rubin was quoted by Bloomberg Law in an article about how a number of states, including California, Colorado, Georgia, and Illinois, are pushing for regulation around the use of AI systems in employee compensation decisions, among other employment contexts. The states’ efforts aim to prevent discrimination and unfair wage practices.
Commenting on how anti-bias and equal pay laws could pose a risk for businesses automating pay decisions, Jen says, “There's a definite risk to taking your responsibility as an employer and giving all of that over to a robot."
