Chair of Mintz’s Government Law Practice Elissa Flynn-Poppey Named to Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s 2021 Top Women of Law – Circle of Excellence

Mintz is pleased to share that Member and Chair of the firm’s Government Law Practice Elissa Flynn-Poppey has been named a 2021 Circle of Excellence honoree by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s Top Women of Law awards. Attorney Flynn-Poppey will be celebrated for her decades-long leadership and accomplishments in the legal profession and community at an event in November.

Attorney Flynn-Poppey helps prominent Mintz clients resolve issues at the intersection of law, government ethics, and regulatory compliance. She works closely with private and publicly traded companies, government agencies, individuals, and nonprofits. As a former senior member of former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s legal office, Attorney Flynn-Poppey has extensive experience in ethics, legislative and regulatory drafting, government investigations, litigation, and government compliance. In addition, she is actively involved in a variety of cases for the firm’s pro bono practice, and led the legislative redrafting and developed the strategic plan for the passage of G.L. c. 258E, Massachusetts’ harassment prevention law. Attorney Flynn-Poppey holds several leadership roles at Mintz, in addition to serving as Chair of the Government Law Practice. She is also a member of the Policy Committee, the firm's governing body, and the Compensation Committee.

Separately, Attorney Flynn-Poppey maintains a number of leadership roles in nonprofit and legal organizations across Massachusetts. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and as Chair of its Advisory Council. She is also on the Board of Directors for Friends for Children, a nonprofit that helps fund programs supporting children who suffer from abuse, neglect, or disease. In addition, Attorney Flynn-Poppey serves on the Advisory Council of the New England Legal Foundation, among other civic engagements.

Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s Top Women of Law celebrates the achievements of exceptional women lawyers who are pioneers, educators, trailblazers, and role models. An elite group of just five honorees each year, the Circle of Excellence recognizes women attorneys who have been previously selected as Top Women of Law, but whose continuing achievements merit additional recognition.
