FTC And $391-Million State AG Case Put Location Data Enforcement On The Map

Cynthia Larose, Chair of the Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice, was quoted in Cybersecurity Law Report about the FTC's dispute with location data broker, Kochava. Cynthia commented, "Companies commonly buy data to append to their own data on customers, [but Kochava’s data] may look more harmful because of its timestamping of precise location. That data would tell you what time I left my house, a Starbucks or a doctor’s office or a church. All that information is in their database there for the buying, for the taking."
