Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Selects Lavinia Weizel as a '2019 Up & Coming Lawyer'

Mintz’s Lavinia Weizel has been selected by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly as a 2019 Excellence in the Law “Up & Coming Lawyer” Honoree. This annual award recognizes rising stars in the legal community who have practiced for 10 years or less, but who have already distinguished themselves in their firm and practice. Ms. Weizel will be honored at the 2019 Excellence in the Law event on May 2, 2019 in Boston.

Ms. Weizel’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation across a variety of areas, including securities litigation, shareholder suits and insurance disputes in both state and federal court. Ms. Weizel also maintains an active pro bono practice.  Outside of the office, Ms. Weizel is Co-chair of the Boston Bar Association’s Human Trafficking Sub-Committee of the Delivery of Legal Services Steering Committee and is a member of the Boston Bar Association’s Delivery of Legal Services Steering Committee.

Before joining Mintz as an Associate, Ms. Weizel was a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Bruce M. Selya of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and before that clerked for the Honorable Francis X. Spina of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court (ret.).  Ms. Weizel graduated from Boston College Law School in 2013.  Prior to law school, Ms. Weizel worked first as the community education and youth violence prevention program coordinator and later as the development director for WISE, a nonprofit serving victims of domestic and sexual violence.
