Mintz Reaches 20-Year Milestone in San Diego, Celebrating Two Decades of Community Impact

Mintz celebrates the 20th anniversary of its San Diego office opening, marking two decades of impact across the region’s business, civic, and nonprofit communities. The milestone reflects the firm’s longstanding presence in San Diego and reaffirms its commitment to the region’s innovation economy. The firm’s contributions have also been recognized by the City of San Diego, which recently proclaimed June 6 as “Mintz Day” in honor of its impact across the business and civic communities it serves.

The anniversary will be commemorated with an event on June 11 at the firm’s recently renovated office, bringing together hundreds of clients, alumni, and community leaders from across Southern California.

Since opening in 2006, Mintz attorneys have contributed not only through their legal work, but also through board leadership, pro bono service, and philanthropy. Mintz has helped expand access to education and career pathways and contributed to organizations providing critical services to individuals and families throughout the county. It also works with executives, boards, founders and high-growth public and private companies as they scale, driving innovation and economic growth. Attorneys from the office serve in leadership roles with organizations such as CONNECT, Biocom California, Cleantech San Diego, and the USS Midway Museum, contributing to key industries and institutions across San Diego.

“San Diego is a leading innovation market, particularly in life sciences and technology,” said Managing Partner Bob Bodian. “Our investment here reflects both the strength of the business community and the opportunity to support companies and institutions shaping the economy in California and beyond.”

“Being part of Mintz’s 20-year journey in San Diego has been deeply rewarding,” said Scott Stanton, Managing Partner of the firm’s San Diego office. “We have consistently paired excellence in client service with a genuine commitment to the community, and that combination has made a real impact across the region. As we look toward the next 20 years, we remain focused on deepening our relationships with San Diego businesses, attracting top talent, and investing in the partnerships that make this region such a great place to live and do business.”

The San Diego office works with companies and investors across sectors including life sciences, technology, energy, and infrastructure, supporting clients throughout the business lifecycle — from capital formation and strategic transactions to intellectual property protection and complex disputes. The office has advised growing companies as they raise capital and scale operations, supported founders through critical growth milestones, and represented established organizations in complex transactions and high-stakes disputes and California employment matters.

Among its contributions, Mintz has invested in creating space for convening and collaboration. The San Diego office recently expanded and enhanced its conference center designed to serve as a hub for clients, partners, and community organizations. The space regularly hosts industry groups, nonprofit events, roundtables, and other events, reinforcing the office’s role as a gathering place for the local business community.

“Our partnership with Mintz has meant far more than financial support — it has been a true collaboration grounded in shared values and a commitment to expanding opportunity for young people,” said Renato Paiva, CEO of Access Youth Academy. “Mintz has played a meaningful role in helping Access Youth Academy transform the lives of underserved youth in San Diego.”

Mintz also continues to invest in its California presence more broadly, with a new office space opening this June in San Francisco and a planned relocation of its Los Angeles office, strengthening its ability to serve clients across the state.
