Saver’s Match Fiduciary Risk Is the Next 401(k) Fiduciary Trap

Michelle Capezza was quoted in a Fiduciary News article examining the fiduciary risks and operational challenges created by the SECURE 2.0 Act Saver’s Match program, particularly as plan sponsors navigate new responsibilities without final regulatory guidance.

Michelle explains the implementation challenges employers face: “The SECURE 2.0 Act repealed and replaced the Saver’s Credit with the Saver’s Match … However, to date, no regulations or other guidance has been issued. A lot of administrative issues need to be addressed … Before a plan sponsor can offer this benefit, further guidance is needed in order to administer these contributions and develop procedures to avoid and mitigate plan operational errors.”
