The US has cut off the path to citizenship for India and China’s most exceptionally talented people

Susan Cohen, Member and Chair of Mintz’s Immigration Practice, is quoted in this Quartz article discussing the U.S. State Department’s announcement that it will soon cease accepting applications for the EB-1 visa from Indian and Chinese nationals. This visa, geared towards “immigrants of extraordinary ability, outstanding professors or researchers, and certain executives at multinational companies”, will undergo a priority date change making it illegal for any applicants who did not submit their applications before Jan. 1, 2010, to continue working in the U.S.
