Mintz Member Elissa Flynn-Poppey has been appointed to the bipartisan Advisory Committee on Massachusetts Judicial Nominations led by U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Edward J. Markey.

Veteran legislator Brian S. Dempsey, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, is joining ML Strategies. Mr. Dempsey will serve as Senior Vice President and COO.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit found decisively in favor of Mint and client Straight Path IP Group, Inc. in a long-fought battle over three of the licensing firm’s patents. The court upheld a prior 2016 decision by the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Mintz attorneys have saved sixty-three of sixty-five challenged patent claims across eight patents in a series of sweeping Inter Partes Review victories for their client, Elm 3DS Innovations, LLC, victories that may pave the way to Elm prevailing in other pending invalidity challenges. 

Mintz has been chosen to be the exclusive legal mentor for teams competing for the 2017 Hult Prize, the world’s largest social entrepreneurial competition. The Hult Prize Foundation is a start-up accelerator and enabler for budding young social entrepreneurs.

Mintz is expanding the firm’s Los Angeles office with the addition of a team of litigators led by Ralph A. Campillo and Arameh Zargham O’Boyle, joining as Members in the firm’s Litigation Practice. Associates Christopher Norton and Nicholas Weiss join them.
