Sustainable Energy & Infrastructure Client Feature: Ocean Aero
This month, we’re pleased to feature our client Ocean Aero.
Ocean Aero created the world’s first and only environmentally powered Autonomous Underwater and Surface Vehicle (AUSV), the TRITON, that collects data both above and below the ocean’s surface and relays it from anywhere, at any time.
The TRITON Autonomous Underwater and Surface Vehicle
The TRITON is fully wind- and solar-powered and eliminates the need for on-board or nearby crews, offering easy logistics, launch, and recovery for defense uses while evading detection using autonomous avoidance and deep diving capabilities.
Research and Monitoring Capabilities
For research missions, the TRITON offers unparalleled MSC (Monitoring, Surveillance, and Control) for:
- Water chemistry reads
- Animal tracking
- Weather observation
- Seabed mapping
- And more
Ocean Aero designs, builds, and operates the TRITON and its communication platform, offering both ready-to-deploy packages and custom payloads for an array of applications.
Mintz Representation in Ocean Aero Series D Financing
Mintz represented Ocean Aero in its recent Series D financing round, which included funding from James Fisher and Sons announced on January 20, 2026. The investment gives James Fisher increased exposure to autonomous marine systems as it looks to expand its technology offering across offshore energy and defense markets. It also supports the continued development and rollout of the TRITON platform. By joining the Series D round, James Fisher has taken a strategic minority stake in Ocean Aero.
James Fisher said the investment aligns with its dual-use strategy across energy and defense, expanding its access to next-generation autonomous systems and strengthening its position in marine monitoring and subsea intervention markets.
“The Ocean Aero team and technology are both incredibly impressive — and we are delighted to support their international expansion through the James Fisher global network of customers. Ocean Aero’s autonomous platform complements our established marine and subsea capabilities and strengthens our ability to deliver innovative solutions for our customers across the Group. This is exactly the type of technology that supports James Fisher’s long-term strategic direction. We look forward to working closely together to drive growth and expansion,” said Sean Huff, Head of Ventures and Chief Digital Officer at James Fisher.
“Our partnership with James Fisher represents an evolution of Ocean Aero’s ability to reach critical customers around the world. By going to market with James Fisher’s respected team of experienced professionals around the world in the defense and energy space, we will learn from them, increase our footprint, and ultimately deliver even better world-class services to our customers than we could do alone,” added Kevin Decker, CEO of Ocean Aero.
Mintz is proud to support the team at Ocean Aero, and we look forward to seeing their continued growth and success in the sustainable energy and infrastructure field.
