In a perspective column for the New York Law Journal, Mintz Member Jason P.W. Halperin, a former federal prosecutor, provided an overview of the death penalty in the United States and offered historical and current arguments for why it should be removed from the criminal justice system altogether. Specifically, the piece examined the federal and state death penalty dichotomy, its history before the U.S. Supreme Court and how it has been implemented in a discriminatory manner, and looked at the national movement away from capital punishment.
The American Lawyer published an article highlighting Mintz’s strong financials from fiscal year 2020, marking its sixth consecutive year of revenue increase. The article included commentary from Mintz Managing Member Bob Bodian on the firm’s success, which he credited to its strategic plan and focus on core practice groups, including life sciences. In addition to 2020 financials, the article detailed Mintz’s focus on adding laterals across practices and offices, and noted select high profile matters and pro bono work around racial and social justice. The article also captured how Mintz was able to achieve these outstanding results during the pandemic without conducting layoffs or furloughs for the firm’s roughly 1,200 attorneys and professional staff.
