Pandemic Creates Roadblocks During H-1B Visa Cycle

Mintz Member and Founding Chair of the firm’s Immigration Practice Susan J. Cohen was quoted in an article published by Law360 on new obstacles for businesses and employers as they attempt to predict future hiring needs and file H-1B visa petitions remotely in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.
In an “Expert Spotlight” column published by Wolters Kluwer, Mintz Member Jennifer B. Rubin offered tips for employers and employees to navigate privacy, mental health, and litigation risks that can arise from work-from-home arrangements necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Daily Journal reported that Mintz achieved a favorable outcome for its client Silanna Semiconductor North America, Inc. (Silanna), a San Diego-based manufacturer and distributor of high-voltage power-conversion systems and four of Silanna’s employees, when the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California granted its motion to dismiss claims of breach of contract and trade secret misappropriation, among others.
