Insurance is a world unto itself, with specialized terminology, a high level of regulation, and its own accounting system as well as its own method of winding down troubled firms and it plays a significant role for businesses, not to mention litigation and other legal proceedings. Whether you are drafting a contract or an agreement containing insurance requirements or working with a client to minimize its business risk, insurance concepts, dynamics and jargon often come into play.

Mintz Member and Co-Chair of the firm's Insurance Practice, Nancy Adams will speak at a course titled "Insurance 101 for Lawyers," co-sponsored by the Social Law Library and The Insurance Library. This course will provide a comprehensive overview of the insurance ecosystem, covering the structure of the market and its participants and how it is regulated, as well as common insurance policies. The course will also review the insurance process, distribution systems, company operations, and the roles of guaranty funds and rating agencies.
