Mintz Receives LPL Financial’s Inaugural Law Firm DEI Award

BOSTON – Mintz is pleased to announce that it has received LPL Financial’s (LPL) first-ever Law Firm DEI Recognition Award. Presented at an in-person reception on April 18, the award recognizes a law firm that has exemplifies a commitment to diversity within the legal profession and the community.

“Working on some of LPL’s most strategic and sensitive matters, Mintz has become a trusted advocate and a welcomed extension to the LPL family,” said Ralph DiChiara, LPL Financial senior vice president, and associate general counsel. “Mintz has leveraged a diverse team of talented lawyers to bring innovation and broader perspectives to LPL’s business needs and challenges.”

LPL launched the awards as part of its partnership with the American Bar Association and the Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Profession to promote diversity in the legal profession and expand opportunities for diverse professionals at all levels. Award winners were selected on a variety of metrics and considerations, including the proactive promotion of DEI among peers and within the firm as a whole. Community outreach efforts and support via legal associations, community groups, non-profits and educational institutions were also a vital component of the judging criteria.

“We are incredibly honored to receive this recognition from our highly valued client,” said Julie Korostoff, a Member of the Mintz Corporate Practice and Chair of Mintz’s IT Transactions and Outsourcing Practice, who has worked with LPL’s legal team for more than nine years. “We are inspired by the example LPL sets and remain grateful for their continued partnership. At Mintz, we recognize that diversity among professionals is key to providing exceptional service and legal results while engaging meaningfully with clients and the community at large.”

Mintz recently doubled down on its long-standing commitment to diversify and strengthen the pipeline to the firm and the legal profession. Specific steps taken include but are not limited to: joining the Law Firm Anti-Racism Alliance to help eliminate systemic racism; increasing the recruitment of Black attorneys; launching an Equity Advisory Council; conducting anti-bias training for all firm interviewers and disseminating bias interrupters to all evaluators writing reviews; and hosting discussions on allyship, intersectionality and pro bono work to dismantle racism.

In addition to the LPL award, Mintz is consistently recognized for its efforts and dedication to ensure that DEI is a priority, including the Diversity & Flexibility Alliance’s Tipping the Scales Award toward gender parity and Chambers 2022 D&I North America Report, which highlighted Mintz as "another firm blazing the way towards a more inclusive future…” Moreover, since 2008, Mintz has received a top rating of 100% on the Corporate Equality Index from the Human Rights Campaign.
