Poultry Sector Wage-Fixing Case Shows Info Exchange Risks

Mintz Antitrust Co-Chairs, Bruce Sokler and Joseph Miller, alongside Associate Tinny Song, co-authored an article published by Law360 discussing a civil complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland against several poultry processors. The authors summarized the settlement, "The DOJ submitted a proposed consent decree to settle the action under which the poultry processors would pay $84.8 Million in restitution and the defendants would be prohibited from engaging in certain conduct for 10 years... This settlement comes on the heels of several price-fixing criminal prosecutions in the poultry industry... Although the settlement papers do not mention it explicitly, it seems likely that the conduct at issue in this matter came to light as part of one of the DOJ's other investigations."
