Rebecca Lee Named a Go-To Lawyer by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly

Mintz is pleased to announce that Member and Chair of the firm’s Real Estate Development Practice Rebecca A. Lee was named a Go-To Lawyer by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly for Commercial Real Estate. This award recognizes the top lawyers across the Commonwealth who have a record of success and to whom other lawyers make referrals for their expertise and accomplishments. Ms. Lee and fellow honorees were featured in a special section published on June 28.

Ms. Lee represents developers, lenders, nonprofit organizations and other parties in real estate matters related to financing, leasing, site acquisitions and assemblages, and related tax incentive transactions. She has extensive experience relating to land use and development permitting in the Greater Boston area.

In her profile, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly highlighted Ms. Lee’s signature accomplishments, which include the redevelopment of the Bayside Exposition Center property into an approximately 5-million-square-foot mixed-use development to include office, lab, residential, retail and other commercial use as well as new open space. She has also been instrumental in the development of a number of hotels, including one adjacent to the Rose Kennedy Greenway and three in South Boston on land leased from public authorities, as well as a convention center hotel also on land leased from a public authority. Additionally, over the last year, Ms. Lee has represented national REITs in the acquisition of a major life sciences campus in Cambridge and the acquisition of a retail/life sciences/office complex in Boston.

From 2004 to 2005,  Ms. Lee served as Chief of Staff/Special Counsel to the Director at the Boston Redevelopment Authority (now known as the Boston Planning & Development Agency) where she was responsible for policy development and representation of the agency in financing transactions, among other areas.

Outside of her thriving practice, Ms. Lee is involved with many community organizations, and serves on the Steering Committee for the Ricesticks and Tea Asian Food Pantry, the Board of Directors for The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy and Asian Community Development Corporation, a Trustee of Eastern Bank, and on the Advisory Committees for Boston Harbor Now. She is a former President of the Asian American Lawyers Association of Massachusetts, and a former Northeast Regional Governor of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.

Now in its second year, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s Go-To Lawyers series showcases leaders in the Massachusetts legal community in practice areas, including Commercial Real Estate, Health Care, Intellectual Property, and Trusts and Estates, among others. The attorneys featured in this list were nominated by their colleagues and were chosen by a panel from Lawyers Weekly.
