Hear what our attorneys have to say...
After starting my career at a large international law firm, I took a leap of faith and decided to move to Mintz in the hopes of diversifying my experience. In two and a half years, I have morphed from a timid junior associate into a confident senior associate who partners rely on not only to manage their cases and keep them moving along, but also to offer my opinions, share my insight, and challenge their views. I have gotten to work on civil and criminal matters, large and small. The opportunities I have had here have pushed me to develop at a far greater rate than I think I would have anywhere else.
I really appreciate working for a firm where diversity is a priority. Mintz emphasizes diversity within the firm and throughout the legal community. I enjoy how active the affinity groups are – they host social hours, panels and other learning opportunities, and regular meetings. In addition, Mintz attorneys spend hundreds of hours a year on pro bono projects focused on immigration, racial justice, LGBTQ rights, and more. There is an empathy and appreciation for diverse voices here that is much stronger than in other firms where I have worked.
I’ve had the opportunity to take the lead in most matters I’ve handled at Mintz (from small matters to bet-the-company class actions). As a result, I’ve had phenomenal exposure to every facet of litigation, including building client relationships, developing defense strategies, preparing and arguing substantive motions, running discovery, and supervising other attorneys and paralegals. Though defending consumer class actions is my specialty, I’ve also been able to expand into other areas of the law at the firm, including product liability and corporate disputes.
My experience joining Mintz as a lateral associate has been extremely positive. The firm has provided me with the necessary resources to quickly adjust to the position, and attorneys and staff have been proactive in ensuring that my integration was smooth and efficient. The partners and associates have all been very receptive to any questions about my practice group and the firm.
At Mintz, I assist corporate clients in a wide range of corporate matters. I also work with unrepresented litigants in family matters through the NYS Courts Access to Justice Program. My mentor, who introduced me to the program, taught me that being a lawyer is a profession that comes with obligations to our community.
