Frequently Asked Questions

What professional development opportunities are available?

First-years are all flown to Boston to participate in the firm's Base Camp to participate in general and practice area-specific orientations. After this, associates can attend training on anything from “how to deal with the tsunami of emails we receive” to improving writing skills. There are also more detailed series on topics like venture capital, business development and transitions training. We will work with you to set a yearly training target for your professional development goals. Every associate is assigned a mentor to help guide them and act as a resource as they grow in their careers at Mintz Levin.

How does the firm support diverse attorneys?

Mintz Levin’s Professional Development programs support the professional growth of our attorneys, with specific programs for women and minority attorneys. We operate a sponsorship and retention program which pairs associates of color with a partner to help them network within the firm. In addition, we have informal mentoring programs to help diverse attorneys succeed.

How does the interview process work?

There are typically two rounds of interviews for Associates in which you meet with the Members in the practice first and any additional Members and Associates on your second round. However, the interview process can vary depending on the practice and office location for which you are applying. You may be asked to visit another office on your second round. In most instances these meetings can be handled via video conference but sometimes the attorneys prefer an in-person interview. As the process moves forward, you will also be asked to complete a conflicts form.

How are lateral Associates integrated?

As a lateral recruit, you’ll go through an integration program designed to help you get to know your colleagues and encourage client development and cross-selling opportunities. We also offer practice meetings, marketing and business development support, and professional development programs.
