Mintz Attorneys William M. Hill and Randy K. Jones to Speak at ABA Forum on Construction Law Midwinter Meeting

William M. Hill, Co-chair of the Construction Law Practice, and Randy K. Jones, a Member of the Litigation Practice of Mintz, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., are speaking at the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Forum on Construction Law Midwinter Meeting. The event is taking place February 1-3 at the JW Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Desert, CA.

The Forum on Construction Law Midwinter Meeting,  Earth Wind Fire and Water: Sustainable Construction in a Changing Environment, will bring together prominent industry and thought leaders to discuss environmental issues affecting today’s projects, best practices for resolving them, and where the industry is heading. The conference will feature Steven Chu, professor of Physics and Molecular and Cellular Physiology at Stanford University, as the keynote speaker. Dr. Chu, a Nobel Prize winner in Physics, previously served as U.S. Secretary of energy from 2009-2013.

Mr. Hill is the current Chair of the ABA Forum on Construction Law, the world’s largest organization of construction lawyers. As Chair, he conceived and planned this meeting, which is one of three national meetings he is responsible for during his term. Mr. Hill will open the conference and introduce Dr. Chu.

During his session, Mr. Jones will discuss criminal liability for lawyers in construction contracting, in addition to how to detect and prevent troublesome issues.

Mr. Hill has been a leader in the local and national construction bar for nearly twenty years. He has represented clients in trials, arbitrations, and mediations on a variety of matters, including construction law, commercial and corporate litigation, and real estate law. Mr. Hill is committed to finding efficient and practical solutions for clients by resolving disputes under difficult circumstances. With respect to construction counseling and dispute resolution, he counsels owners, lenders, general contractors, joint ventures, and subcontractors across a variety of private and public sector projects.

Mr. Jones is a highly-respected and nationally recognized trial lawyer who has successfully litigated hundreds of cases in federal court. He represents clients in criminal and complex civil matters in state and federal court requiring top-caliber trial counsel, with an emphasis on high stakes commercial and business disputes, government and corporate investigations, healthcare fraud, and white-collar defense. He works closely with clients to develop and implement crisis management plans to help avoid costly business disruptions, negative publicity, lawsuits and government investigations.
