Mintz Member Brian Dunphy Honored For Pro Bono Service by Volunteer Lawyers Project

Mintz Member Brian P. Dunphy has been selected as a recipient of the 2019 Denis Maguire Award by the Boston Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP). Mr. Dunphy will be honored in front of more than 150 influential guests at VLP’s 2019 Volunteer Appreciation Event held on September 11 at the John Adams Courthouse in Boston.

Since 1989, the Denis Maguire Pro Bono Award has honored the work of outstanding members of VLP’s pro bono panel and commemorated Denis Maguire’s commitment to VLP and access to justice through pro bono efforts.

Mr. Dunphy serves VLP as a volunteer attorney, a coordinator of the statewide Civil Appeals clinic with VLP, a donor, and a member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Dunphy recently helped a VLP client through the Civil Appeals Clinic appeal a court order granting a violent and potentially harmful father visitation rights with the client’s young son.

“Volunteers like Brian Dunphy are a rare find, and VLP feels incredibly fortunate to count someone so dedicated and altruistic as a volunteer and supporter,” a representative for VLP stated in a recent press release.

VLP strives to increase access to justice by delivering high quality pro bono civil legal services to eligible clients in the Greater Boston area.
