Mintz’s Narges Kakalia and Jinnie Reed Named to Lawyers of Color's Nation’s Best 2020 List

Mintz is pleased to share that the firm’s Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Narges M. Kakalia and Member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Jinnie L. Reed have been named to Lawyers of Color's Nation’s Best 2020 List for their exceptional career accomplishments and commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.

As Mintz’s first Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Ms. Kakalia leads the firm in developing and implementing its DEI strategy and goals, and is in charge of implementing thoughtful and innovative steps towards fostering a culture that values and celebrates difference, and ensures that every employee has an equal opportunity to succeed. Prior to serving in this role, Ms. Kakalia was a Member in the firm’s Litigation Practice, Vice Chair of the firm’s Pro Bono Program, a leader of the firm’s Women’s Initiative, and a member of MIATTY, the firm’s affinity group for minority attorneys and senior professionals.

Ms. Reed focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation and portfolio risk assessment and mitigation. She has represented technology, pharmaceutical, and finance companies in matters before state courts, federal district courts, the International Trade Commission, U.S. courts of appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court, and has participated in several mediations. Ms. Reed applies a strategic business-minded approach to analyzing clients and their portfolios in the context of the competitive market and helps devise and deploy strategies to take advantage of portfolio strengths and buttress areas of weakness. Ms. Reed is a member of MIATTY and is an active mentor for young diverse associates at the firm and in the community. She is also a member of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and Women's Bar Association.

Lawyers of Color is a nonprofit devoted to promoting diversity in the legal profession and advancing democracy and equality in marginalized communities. In assembling the Nation’s Best 2020 list, Lawyers of Color’s selection committee, comprised of its fellows, advisers, and editorial staff, chose law firm partners and high ranking in-house counsel who were nominated and had noteworthy accomplishments, as well as a commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.
