Unlawfully Restrictive Covenants Must Be Redacted

Members Randy Jones, Anthony Nash, and Associate Nicole Rivers co-authored an article published by The Daily Journal analyzing discriminatory racial covenants and their presence in California housing deeds. The authors summarized, "Despite the advancements in civil rights and an outright prohibition on enforcement mandated by Shelley v. Kramer, 334 U.S. 1 (1948), the federal Fair Housing Act (42 U.S.C §§3601 et seq.), and the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (Gov. Code §§12900 et seq.), discriminatory racial covenants still lurk in California housing deeds often unbeknownst to the deed-holder."
