James is an IP attorney with experience litigating, advising, and prosecuting in various technology areas including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, electrical engineering, and oil and gas. His experience includes district court litigation, Federal Circuit appeals, private arbitration, and Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings.
James concentrates his practice on patent disputes and has counseled clients through all stages of litigation. His experience includes preparation and trial of patent matters, discovery preparation and management, drafting pleadings and motions, conducting and defending depositions, and drafting expert reports and preparing expert witnesses for deposition and trial testimony across a broad range of technology areas, including pharmaceutical formulations, biomedical engineering, and mechanical engineering.
Prior to joining Mintz, James was a patent litigation associate at two international law firms.
James earned his JD, cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law, where he was executive articles editor of the Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property.
He is based in the San Diego office.
