Mintz Member Brent Henry To Receive MLRI Catalyst for Change Award

Mintz is pleased to announce that Member Brent Henry will be honored by the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute (MLRI) on April 28, 2022, as the recipient of its Catalyst for Change Award. Mr. Henry will be for recognized his work promoting diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, advocating for more funding for legal aid programs, and supporting health and housing equity.

“Now more than ever, MLRI’s mission to fight for policies that benefit low-income people in Massachusetts and that advance racial equity justice is important to the future of our Commonwealth and our nation,” said MLRI’s Executive Director, Georgia Katsoulomitis. “Brent Henry knows what it is like to stand in the trenches to help those in need of support and to address both economic and racial injustice. His career is defined by promoting equity and inclusion, from the legal profession to health care to housing. We are honored to celebrate his work.”

Mr. Henry is a leading health care professional who brings more than 30 years of industry experience to his work advising clients on complex business, legal, and regulatory issues. Prior to joining the firm, he was Vice President and General Counsel of Partners HealthCare, the largest hospital network in New England.

Mr. Henry’s experience also includes serving as Vice President and General Counsel of MedStar Health, a hospital system serving the Baltimore/Washington corridor; as Deputy Administrator of the New York City Human Resources Administration, where he directed the NYC Medicaid program; and as Director of Business and Governmental Affairs for the Greater Southeast Health Care System in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Henry has been involved in a broad range of community and professional service activities, including the Boston Bar Association (where he was the inaugural chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Section), and served on the boards of DotWell Health, The Partnership, the New England Legal Foundation, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the New England Council, and the Massachusetts Equal Justice Fund.

In addition to the Catalyst for Change Award, Mr. Henry has received numerous accolades for his career accomplishments and community contributions. Notably, he was named a Health Care Trailblazer by the National Law Journal for being at the “forefront of how the health law discipline has developed” and how he “continues to advocate for diversity both in-house and in law firms.”

MLRI is a statewide nonprofit poverty law and policy center whose mission is to foster economic, racial and social justice through legal action, policy advocacy, coalition building, and community outreach. Over the past six years, MLRI’s Catalyst for Change award and event have celebrated exceptional leaders in the community who strive for these same goals and who have achieved incredible success in making a positive impact on the people of Massachusetts.
