Mintz Partners with A Good Option to Support Innovative Equity-Based Philanthropy Model

Mintz has partnered with A Good Option (AGO), a nonprofit organization advancing an innovative equity-based approach to charitable giving. Through the firm's pro bono program, Mintz is advising AGO on governance, equity donation structures, and other legal and operational matters as the organization expands.

Inspired by an equity-based philanthropic model first developed by affiliated nonprofit Tmura in Israel, AGO helps founders, investors, startup employees, and fund managers incorporate charitable giving from the beginning of their entrepreneurial journey. Participants can pledge ownership interests for future charitable purposes before a liquidity event occurs, with the goal of making philanthropy more accessible across the innovation economy.

In addition to providing legal counsel, Mintz is supporting AGO's efforts to engage members of the startup community in conversations about innovative approaches to charitable giving.

"Working with founders, investors, emerging companies, and mission-driven organizations has long been a foundational part of our practice," said Dan DeWolf, Co-chair of Mintz's Venture Capital & Emerging Companies Practice and Chair of its Technology Practice. "A Good Option's efforts to engage the startup community in philanthropy align naturally with that work, and we're proud to support its approach to making an impact."

"We're excited to partner with Mintz, whose deep roots in the startup and investment communities make the firm a natural fit for our organization," said Sivan Aloni Olidort, Executive Director of A Good Option. "Making giving the norm takes an entire ecosystem, and we’re thrilled to see the broader tech community, and Mintz in particular, take part in this effort. Their experience across the startup ecosystem will help us engage founders, investors, and other stakeholders who share our commitment to charitable impact."
