Project Analyst Program

Mintz celebrates a tradition of excellence as one of the largest and most sophisticated full-service law firms in the country and has grown to include eight offices in the US and Canada. Through the Project Analyst Program, Mintz offers recent college graduates the opportunity to engage in challenging and interesting work in its fast-paced environment.

The Project Analyst Program was founded in 1989, and in recent years, has expanded to sixteen Project Analysts in four offices covering nearly a dozen practice areas. During their two-year tenure, Project Analysts gain practical experience and valuable exposure to law and business by working alongside Mintz’s attorneys and senior professionals.

At Mintz, Project Analysts can expect to develop and use a broad range of skills to meet the needs of the firm and its clients. Project Analysts research factual issues, review and analyze documents, organize data, draft reports, and organize and prepare case documents. Project Analysts also conduct track regulatory activity and monitor industry trends. They interact directly with clients on projects, in some cases on a regular basis.

Pro Bono and Community Service

Project Analysts in all offices have the opportunity to work on a variety of pro bono cases during their tenure at the firm. Additionally, Boston Project Analysts help coordinate and participate in various in-person and virtual clinics including Mintz’s Domestic Violence Project, the Lawyers Clearinghouse CORI Clinic, and the Veterans Legal Services Brockton Clinic. Project Analysts are also instrumental in organizing and running several of Mintz’s community service initiatives, including the annual United Way campaign and the TargetCancer Foundation Gala. In addition, some serve as weekly writing coaches for Citizen School’s 8th Grade Academy and Mock Trial team.

Office Locations

Boston

The Boston office, which has more than 600 attorneys and business professionals, is Mintz’s oldest and largest office. Since its founding in 1933, the office has grown to serve a wide range of national and international clients. Boston is also home to ML Strategies, which provides clients with a broad range of strategic and tactical services in government relations, community and media relations, real estate development, and international relations. The Boston program allows each Project Analyst the opportunity to rotate every eight months through three of the following five rotations to be deliberated internally by the Boston Project Analysts: Corporate, ML Strategies and Health, Pro Bono and Immigration, Litigation and Employment, and Intellectual Property.

New York

The New York office includes over 100 attorneys and focuses on various aspects of business and finance, white collar criminal defense, and intellectual property, with clients in the banking, information technology, telecommunications, venture capital, and biotechnology sectors. Additional areas of practice include commercial litigation, reinsurance, employment, health law, and pro bono immigration work with a focus on political asylum. New York does not have formal rotations, and Project Analysts work across divisions to undertake high-impact projects primarily in litigation, with the opportunity to develop close working relationships with New York attorneys during their two-year tenure.

Washington, DC

The Washington, DC office has over 70 attorneys and senior professionals and is widely recognized for its leadership in Healthcare Law and federal government representation, offering robust litigation, antitrust, intellectual property, employment and labor, education, and corporate law practices. Project Analysts in the Washington, D.C. branch have the unique opportunity to experience regulatory-oriented legal practice by interacting with Congress, the courts, and regulatory government agencies. In their first year, the Project Analyst will work across practice areas including health law, antitrust, technology and telecommunications, commercial litigation, and mergers and acquisitions. In their second year, the Project Analyst transitions to ML Strategies, the firm’s lobbying subsidiary, engaging in federal advocacy for clients in healthcare, energy, and defense among other sectors. 

San Diego

The San Diego office, the first Mintz office on the West Coast, is home to over 60 attorneys and legal professionals who serve clients across the country. Situated in California, the San Diego office has established itself as a hub for a variety of employment-related litigation: wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination, discrimination, fraud, and more. The Project Analyst program has only recently expanded to the West Coast, so San Diego Project Analysts are given the unique opportunity to assist attorneys across many distinct practice areas, rather than rotating through sections, and are responsible for partaking in projects across all of Mintz’s West Coast offices.

Qualifications

The Project Analyst Program seeks well-rounded, dedicated, and motivated college seniors or recent graduates. Initiative, curiosity, efficient analysis, and a cooperative spirit are essential. A minimum 3.5 grade point average is strongly preferred.

Office Preferences

Please feel free to contact current Project Analysts to discuss the program’s differences between office locations. Please indicate your order of preference between our Boston, New York, and Washington, D.C. locations in your cover letter.

Applications for the Boston, New York, and Washington, D.C. positions will be evaluated in the same pool. While the application process does take into account candidates’ office preferences, your application will not be favorably or adversely affected by your office location selection.
