Mintz and Antler: A Game-Changing Partnership Boosting Legal Support for Startups Everywhere — Including Innovative Health Care Company “peri”

We love working with innovative emerging growth companies and entrepreneurial founders. In 2022, Mintz partnered with Antler, a startup accelerator and venture capital firm that backs the world’s most driven founders at the time it matters most — from the very beginning.

A year on, we look back on this strategic collaboration, reflecting on its value to the venture ecosystem and highlighting peri — just one of the innovative companies supported by Mintz and Antler this past year.

Antler operates worldwide with three locations in the United States: New York, Boulder, and Austin. We have enjoyed participating in Antler’s success as a global startup generator and venture capital firm. What truly sets Antler apart is its careful attention to the determined, ambitious, and resilient founders that enter its programs and Antler’s ability to provide access to an expansive network of expertise, capital, and talent from its extensive portfolio.

Mintz has seamlessly integrated our services with Antler’s approach to supporting its portfolio by offering practical and efficient legal solutions in a comprehensive range of areas, including formation, raising capital with institutional investors, preparation for exit, protection of intellectual property, and labor and employment disputes. Over the past 18 months, Mintz has supported more than 20 founding teams from the Antler programs in New York, Boulder, and Austin.

Peri: Antler introduced us to Dr. Alex Kantor, a distinguished dentist, serial entrepreneur, and expert in oral hygiene, located in Boulder, Colorado. Dr. Kantor’s vision is to revolutionize the way we monitor and treat our oral health. With the help of Mintz and Antler, Dr. Kantor launched peri in 2022.

Since its formation, peri has developed and launched a simple, easy-to-use at-home test to identify specific microorganisms in the mouth that have been linked to heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, rheumatoid arthritis, pregnancy and fertility issues, inflammatory bowel disease, and even cancer. By determining your susceptibility to oral diseases such as gum disease and tooth decay, peri provides personalized recommendations so that you can be proactive about improving your oral and overall health.

The Mintz team supporting peri includes Steve Osborn, Ryan Urban, and Tali Tuchin, who have guided peri through various corporate governance and formation issues, helped secure funding, and negotiated a cross-border agreement with a key partner in connection with the launch of its innovative oral health test.

The Mintz team values the collaboration between Mintz and Antler. Our collective deep ties to venture capital communities in Austin, Boston, Boulder, New York, San Diego, San Francisco, Toronto, and Washington, DC, allow us together to support and develop the next generation of innovative founders like Dr. Kantor and the peri team.
