Mintz Members Named to Lawyers of Color’s Nation’s Best List

Mintz Members Tyrone Thomas and Narges Kakalia have been named to Lawyers of Color’s inaugural Nation’s Best list, which recognizes leading attorneys with a commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. Lawyers of Color is a nonprofit devoted to promoting diversity in the legal profession and advancing democracy and equality in marginalized communities.

Mr. Thomas has gained national recognition for his work in employment and sports law. He advises on employment, executive compensation and workplace investigations for clients ranging from international corporations to nonprofit institutions. He also provides compliance assessments on governance issues and advises clients on conflicts of interest.

As Co-chair of Mintz's Sports & Entertainment Practice, Mr. Thomas focuses on legal issues pertaining to intercollegiate athletics and professional sports. He is highly regarded for his insight on sports matters and has served as a legal analyst for The New York Times, ESPN and Sports Illustrated, among others.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Thomas is Chair of the Mintz Diversity Committee. In this role, he leads the firm’s initiatives promoting diversity in the legal profession.

Ms. Kakalia’s practice focuses on complex business disputes, with expertise in securities litigation, contracts, corporate governance, executive protection, insurance coverage, big data and risk management. She also advises the firm’s clients on ethics, data management and risk management.  Ms. Kakalia promotes social justice through Mintz’s pro bono program, for which she serves as Vice-Chair. She also serves as the firm’s Ombudsperson, and is the founder of the firm’s She’s the Boss speaker series.
