Three Mintz Attorneys Named 2023 BTI Client Service All-Stars

NEW YORK and WASHINGTON, D.C. – Mintz is pleased to announce that Therese Doherty, Stephen J. Gulotta, Jr., and Bruce Sokler, have been named by corporate counsel to BTI Consulting Group’s Client Service All-Stars 2023, an elite list of client service leaders among law firms nationwide.

BTI identified the client-service superstars solely by conducting in-depth interviews with more than 350 top legal decision-makers at large organizations with more than $700 million in revenue. BTI defines its Client Service All-Stars based on six characteristics: practical, savvy, in the know, deals with complexity, available and nimble. The selection process solely relies on corporate counsel singling out attorneys for their unparalleled client service, without any prompts or suggestions.

Ms. Doherty, Co-Chair of the Financial Services Practice, is renowned for her tenacity as a litigator and her ability to develop innovative strategies that lead to successful outcomes for her clients. Apart from her impressive track record in federal and state jury trials, she has gained national recognition for effectively representing firms and individuals in government-initiated investigations and enforcement proceedings. Ms. Doherty has successfully defended clients in matters before regulatory bodies such as the CFTC, SEC, DOJ, NFA, FINRA, as well as futures and derivative exchanges. BTI reported clients as saying, "Therese really knows the business and is a very aggressive litigator that will go for the jugular if needed to win. She is very driven and very responsive."

Mr. Gulotta, Managing Member of Mintz’s New York office and head of the Corporate & Securities Practice in New York, is a four-time BTI Consulting Group Client Service All-Star. He has earned a reputation for immersing himself in his clients' businesses and serving as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives and in-house counsel. Clients turn to him not only for his expertise in structuring and negotiating complex transactions but also for his valuable insights on the legal and business issues that impact their daily operations and long-term success. Mr. Gulotta represents both public and private companies across various industries, including financial services, healthcare, life sciences, telecommunications, manufacturing, hospitality, retail, and sports and entertainment. BTI's client feedback highlighted Mr. Gulotta’s client service as “outstanding – he's the most responsive through and through…[he] really understands my business and the issues faced by General Counsel…and he is technically savvy."

As Co-Chair of the Antitrust Practice, Mr. Sokler leverages his extensive experience, business acumen, and legal judgment to handle a wide range of antitrust matters, including government merger reviews, investigations, and litigation. His practice encompasses antitrust counseling, representation in federal and state governmental matters, such as merger reviews and cartel cases, as well as private antitrust litigation, including class actions. He has advised and represented Fortune 100 companies, not-for-profit organizations, startups, trade associations, and domestic and international joint ventures. With significant expertise in the health care, communications, and retail industries, Mr. Sokler is highly regarded by his clients. According to commentary provided to BTI, “Bruce is the best antitrust attorney…we have worked together for many years, and he understands and meets our legal objectives…he is the most technically sophisticated and the most excellent in leading a litigation team for class actions." This marks Mr. Sokler's second consecutive year of being recognized as a BTI Client Service All-Star.

Now in its 22nd year of publication, BTI Consulting notes that the Client Service All-Stars list is the “gold standard used by corporate counsel and law firms alike to identify the attorneys delivering the absolute best levels of client service — better than all others.”
