Caroline’s litigation practice encompasses a wide variety of matters in state and federal courts, including complex commercial cases, real estate litigation, insurance cases, and class actions. She represents public and private companies across a range of industries through all stages of litigation, with experience drafting pleadings, discovery materials, briefs, and motions. Caroline also maintains an active pro bono practice.
Prior to joining Mintz, Caroline served as a law clerk for the Honorable Gregory A. Phillips of the US Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and the Honorable Paul A. Suttell, Chief Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court.
While earning her JD, Caroline interned for the Honorable Allison D. Burroughs of the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Additionally, Caroline worked as a Summer Associate at Mintz, where she researched caselaw and conducted client intake interviews for pro bono cases. In law school, Caroline served as editor in chief of the Boston College Law Review.
Before law school, Caroline worked in government affairs in Washington, DC, and served as national deputy finance director for a US Senator’s reelection campaign.

Further Appellate Review: A Diamond in the Rough

Appellate Practice Co-chair Emily Musgrave and Associate Caroline Gelinne authored an article in the Boston Bar Journal discussing a recent decision in a case about who gets to keep the ring when engaged couples break up, which the court took up on further appellate review (FAR). The article explains the criteria and strategic considerations for seeking FAR in light of this case.
