Melinda is a patent litigator who represents leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, patent owners, and other life sciences businesses in high-stakes intellectual property disputes. She has significant experience handling matters involving biologics, small molecules, and other innovative technologies, with a focus on Hatch-Waxman litigation and post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Melinda’s practice also includes patent invalidity and freedom-to-operate analyses, pre-suit investigations, and litigation-adjacent patent counseling.

Drawing on her scientific background, Melinda helps clients navigate technically complex patent disputes into clear, effective litigation strategies. Her experience includes representing pharmaceutical companies in federal court and before the PTAB in matters involving composition-of-matter, formulation, method-of-treatment, and dosing regimen patents. Her work spans a broad range of life sciences technologies, including RNA interference (RNAi), pharmaceutical compounds and formulations, and cancer treatments.

Melinda has helped obtain favorable settlements in federal litigation and PTAB proceedings involving RNAi-related patents, contributed to a trial victory for an innovator pharmaceutical company in a multi-defendant Hatch-Waxman matter concerning cancer-treatment patents, and defended the validity of a pharmaceutical composition patent in multiple PTAB proceedings.

More recently, she successfully defended dosing regimen patents covering a blockbuster pharmaceutical product through two trials on the merits, with the litigations ultimately resolving in settlement.

Before beginning her legal career, Melinda conducted neuroscience research at the Yale University School of Medicine.
