
Serge is an accomplished patent lawyer who focuses his practice on the preparation and prosecution of US and international patent applications, primarily in the life sciences and technology sectors. He has significant experience in the chemical, polymer chemistry, pharmaceutical, biomedical, biotechnology, nanotechnology, and semiconductor arts.
Serge has counseled leading companies offering innovative solutions involving organic and inorganic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical small molecules, organometallic compounds, catalysts, transition metals, alloys, coordinates, elastomers, adhesives, coatings, medical devices and sensors, and display devices based on nanotubes, nanoparticles, organic films, and semiconductor materials. He handles a broad range of patent matters, including patentability assessments, freedom-to-operate analyses, landscape analyses, patent strategy consultations and opinions, IPO due diligence reviews, and patent portfolio management. He has also conducted post-grant reviews related to patent interferences, reissues, and re-examination proceedings.
Prior to joining Mintz, Serge was a member of a leading international law firm’s Boston-based patent prosecution team.
His doctoral research focused on palladium-catalyzed reductive N-heteroannulation of nitrostyrenes compounds and the synthesis of Echinosulfone A. He has co-authored numerous articles published in peer-reviewed journals, including Synthesis and Tetrahedron, and has presented his work at several international meetings.
