Mintz’s Courtney Rockett Named to Crain's New York Business’ 2021 Notable Women in Law List

Mintz Member and accomplished litigator Courtney Rockett has been named to Crain’s New York Business’ 2021 “Notable Women in Law” list in recognition of her formidable career accomplishments and steadfast commitment to colleagues and the New York City community. Ms. Rockett was featured among over 100 honorees in the publication’s December 21 special issue.

Dynamic and assertive, Ms. Rockett, who joined Mintz earlier this year, is a sought-after litigator with an exemplary 20-year track record representing large corporations, private equity firms, celebrities, and others in high-stakes, complex civil litigation matters. She focuses her practice on complex commercial transactions, partnership disputes, securities matters, entertainment disputes, and intellectual property litigation.

Ms. Rockett’s Notable Women in Law profile highlighted her vast experience in complex civil litigation, spanning entertainment and intellectual property, including her work for many high profile clients such as Sony Pictures Entertainment, Tory Burch LLC, and others. “When litigation cases are proceeding along a suboptimal path, Courtney Rockett may swoop in to take over as litigator, reframing cases with her creative strategies,” the profiled noted.

Outside of her high-stakes litigation practice, Ms. Rockett has long established herself as a role model for women attorneys, personally writing the first-ever maternity leave policy at her former firm over two decades ago, and serving as a mentor to junior women and diverse attorneys. Having spent her entire career in the New York metropolitan area, Ms. Rockett also consistently gives back to her community. For example, she is a District Leader for New York’s Ninth Judicial District and is a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association’s Commercial and Federal Litigation Section. She is involved in the Section’s initiative to drive greater diversity in speaking roles in the courts. Additionally, Ms. Rockett is also a member of the rotating Board of Directors of Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, a nonprofit dedicated to providing free, high-quality counsel in civil matters where basic human needs are at stake for low-income individuals and families.

Now in its fourth iteration, Crain’s New York Business Notable Women in Law list honors dedicated, gifted, and determined female lawyers for their professional achievements and pro bono work or involvement in industry and community organizations. According to Crain’s New York Business, the 2021 Notable Women in Law were chosen “not only for their skills and accomplishments, but also for their efforts to shore up the edifice of justice.” Mintz’s New York-based women attorneys have routinely been selected for inclusion in the prestigious list, including Members Loretta Shaw-Lorello and Karen Won in 2020, and Members Therese Doherty and Patricia Kantor in 2019.

Mintz has a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, both within the firm and in the greater legal community. Mintz considers diversity to be an all-reaching initiative that brings a number of the firm’s strategic priorities together — client engagement, alumni relations, community outreach with diverse entities, and more. Mintz aims to integrate a full spectrum of viewpoints into every matter to drive the best solutions for clients. Learn more about the firm’s deep commitment to diversity here.
