Brian represents clients in the acquisition, financing, development, and leasing of real estate. He has represented commercial landlords and tenants, real estate investment trusts (REITs), joint ventures, commercial financial institutions, and institutional lenders and developers in major transactions including lease negotiations, acquisitions and dispositions, and financings.
Prior to joining Mintz, Brian practiced in the real estate departments of several leading law firms in the Boston area. In his previous position, Brian represented an institutional landlord with a 20-building portfolio in leasing matters as well as in the acquisition and disposition of real estate portfolio assets. He also served as the lead attorney on equity and traditional financing for a solar power facility and as lead attorney on the disposition of real estate for a major international pharmaceutical company.
Brian has represented institutional lenders and developers in construction and permanent financings, sale/leaseback transactions, commercial loan transactions, debt restructurings and workouts, and commercial acquisitions. In addition, he has represented clients in business and real estate litigation as well as in government contract disputes.
While earning his law degree at Boston College, Brian was a lecturer in the Political Science Department, where he taught an undergraduate course in Environmental Law and Policy. He also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Gordon H. Piper of the Massachusetts Land Court.
