John is a corporate and securities lawyer who draws on decades of transactional experience to guide life science and other technology companies as they structure strategic alliances, licensing and collaborative development transactions, joint ventures, and other operations-oriented deals. He counsels biotechnology, medical device, and clean technology companies around the world and frequently speaks about issues in licensing and collaborative research transactions. His previous role as general counsel of the biosciences group of a major life science industry company enhances his insight into the needs of his clients.
John is a member of Mintz's Corporate & Securities Practice. Biotechnology, life science, medical device and clean technology companies rely on his 30 years of experience to advise them on a broad range of legal issues, including on the structuring of collaborative research and development efforts, strategic alliances and joint ventures. John’s practice is focused heavily on transactions involving licensing and technology “spin-outs,” sponsored research, and supply and distribution relationships. He has successfully concluded numerous deals, many in an international context, and represents clients worldwide.
John is a frequent panelist at conferences and executive education courses and speaks often on the subject of licensing and collaborative research and development agreements.
Clients in particular appreciate John’s prior experience as general counsel to the Biosciences group of Fisher Scientific International, Inc., where he was responsible for, among other matters, the conduct of acquisitions and subsequent integration efforts, negotiation of licenses, and procurement and supply agreements with life science industry partners.
