Maura represents and counsels clients on a variety of federal and state employment issues, including discrimination and harassment, leaves of absence, employee misconduct, internal workplace investigations, wage and hour matters, workplace health and safety, employee privacy issues, and the enforcement of noncompetition agreements and other restrictive covenants.

She has extensive experience drafting and reviewing employment contracts and policies, including executive employment agreements; separation agreements; noncompetition, nonsolicitation, and nondisclosure agreements; and employee handbooks. Maura also has conducted trainings to educate clients’ employees on anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies and procedures as well as effective management practices. She also has experience representing clients in employment litigation matters before federal and state courts.

Maura was a Summer Associate at Mintz in 2005. Before joining the firm, she worked for the Massachusetts Legislature for over six years, and was responsible for drafting legislation and advising legislators on significant policy matters in a variety of areas, including transportation, finance, criminal justice, health care, and education. As a result of her public experience, Maura has extensive knowledge of the special issues relating to government employment and government contractors. As such, she counsels public and private clients on the unique laws and exclusions affecting government and quasi-government employees and private employers conducting business with the government.

In law school, she served as executive articles editor of the New England Law Review, and one of her articles was selected as the Law Review’s nominee for the national Scribes Award competition. She also was a Trustees’ Academic Scholar, New England Scholar, New England Merit Scholar, and a dean’s list student.
