Danny focuses his practice on business disputes and litigation with a concentration on complex, high-exposure insurance and reinsurance claims under a variety of insurance products, including directors and officers, errors and omissions, employment practices, general liability, crime and cyber policies.

Danny also counsels clients on insurance regulatory inquiries and provides strategic guidance with respect to licensing, admission, fee structuring and related issues. A large part of his regulatory practice is devoted to advising insurtech entrepreneurs, established companies and venture capital firms on potential investments, product innovation, valuation and regulatory compliance.

On the transactional side, Danny advises clients on policy placement, and coverage optimization by working with policyholders, brokers and insurers to facilitate policy negotiation. He also works with acquirers and underwriters in the negotiation and placement of representations and warranties coverage.

Before joining Mintz Levin, Danny practiced as an associate in the New York office of another international law firm. While in law school, he served as an appellate extern with the Appeals Division of the New York City Law Department, and as Associate Editor for the Cardozo Arts and Entertainment Law Journal.

Representative Matters

  • Drafted successful summary judgment motion on behalf of internationally recognized bedding manufacturer claiming coverage under CGL policy in connection with nationwide class action dispute alleging consumer protection violations
  • Obtained favorable settlement on behalf of reinsured in arbitration with reinsurer claiming improper billing allocations
  • Assisted national insurance carrier with response to investigation commenced by the New York Attorney General
  • Provided regulatory guidance to international mutual association of ship-builders, and its managing general agent regarding compliance with New York law pertaining to licensing and insurer admission obligations
  • Counseled several insurance brokerage start-up companies offering internet-based solutions regarding licensing and compliance with compensation structures
  • Advised venture capital firm regarding Series B investment in New York-based peer-to-peer insurance startup
