Eric is a leading corporate and securities lawyer who advises on capital markets transactions, strategic M&A, and complex corporate matters across Canada and the United States. He represents investment banks, public and private companies, and institutional investors in a broad range of industries, including life sciences, mining, technology, and cannabis.
His capital markets practice spans public and private financings of all types, including IPOs, cross-border offerings, at-the-market programs, bought deals, private placements, and structured equity and debt transactions. Eric regularly advises on Canadian reporting obligations, stock exchange requirements, and the Multijurisdictional Disclosure System, delivering integrated guidance that aligns Canadian and U.S. regulatory frameworks.
Eric’s M&A practice includes representing acquirers, targets, boards, and special committees in friendly and hostile takeover bids, plans of arrangement, reverse takeovers, going-private transactions, and other transformative business combinations. Clients rely on him for transactions requiring strategic judgment, technical precision, and seamless cross-border execution.
He is also widely recognized as one of Canada’s leading cannabis industry lawyers, having advised on many of the sector’s most prominent transactions and complex commercial arrangements, including licensing, royalty, supply, consulting, and celebrity partnership agreements. Eric is a sought-after commentator on regulatory and transactional developments and has been featured in Bloomberg, The Globe and Mail, the Financial Post, and CTV News.
In addition to his transactional practice, Eric serves as trusted counsel to Canadian public companies on disclosure, governance, stock exchange compliance, and regulatory risk management. He also advises emerging growth companies on cross-border structuring, financings, and regulatory strategy as they scale.
Eric holds a Certificate in Mining Law from Osgoode Hall Law School and completed the Business Leadership Program at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. Prior to founding the Mintz Toronto office in 2023, he led the Canadian cannabis practice of an international law firm and previously practiced at a leading Canadian multinational firm.
